about
The latest musical sign of life of the Viennese electronic producer Peter Zirbs after his internationally acclaimed solo album debut "What If We Don't Exist? (2018) has been given a strong prophetic touch by the current events in the world. With the charismatic ex-Archive frontman Craig Walker, Zirbs has invited an international guest to his studio for the single "Locked In", who already wrote the lyrics to the song last fall and was originally inspired by an old Nico interview. Today, however, these lyrics, which were written back then, read frighteningly up to date.
Craig Walker: "I saw an old interview with Nico, later in her life and she was saying how she no longer needed to go outside, to experience the same feelings. She could achieve them at home alone and inside her own head. At the time of writing Locked In, I took this metaphor and idea as the source but on a purely personal level we could isolate. Jump six months after writing the words and they read as a manual for half the world".
"Locked In" is the first teaser single for Zirbs' new EP, which will be released in Summer 2020.

LYRICS
It’s like a scar in the brain
You didn’t know you had
Till you discover the truth
The horrible sad
You don’t need to be outside
To be outside
You like to be locked in
(chorus)
Locked into
the black of it
There’s a certain kind of joy in it
There’s a thorn in the side from it
Locked into
The black of it
That’s all
When that train roars by
In the middle of the night
With the soothing sound of engines
A carriage full of fire flies
You don’t need to be outside
To be outside
You like to be locked inside
(chorus)
Locked into
the black of it
There’s a certain kind of joy in it
There’s a thorn in the side from it
Locked into
The black of it
That’s all
